Interior space and unexpected features keep Accent a class above the competition. The Accent has more total interior volume than either the Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic – both cars that are a vehicle class above Accent and priced thousands of dollars more. Unexpected features include a B&M Racing® sport shifter and XM Satellite Radio® with three months of free service. The Accent SE’s standard B&M shifter adds shorter throw-lengths and more precision performance-tuned driving dynamics and Accent is still the only car in its class to offer XM Satellite Radio with three months of free service as standard equipment with the vehicle’s audio system.

Offered in a four-door sedan (the Accent GLS) and three-door models (the Accent Blue, GS and SE), Accent continues to offer a high level of standard safety, power and economy in its class.

ADVANCED SAFETY FEATURES

In a bold stroke in this price-sensitive market segment, Hyundai has outfitted the Accent with state-of-the-art standard safety technologies highlighted by six airbags, including dual front airbags, front seat-mounted side-impact airbags and roof-mounted side-curtain airbags covering both rows of seating. The combination of side and curtain airbags, which help protect the head and body during side impacts, can reduce fatalities by more than 45 percent according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). All Accents come equipped with front seatbelt pretensioners and load limiters, which are designed to tighten the seatbelt in the event of a collision. This safety package helped the Accent GLS four-door receive a five-star frontal crash safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). An Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) is optional on the GS and GLS and standard on the SE.

The R-Spec allows enthusiasts to tune their own car to their desired specifications. R-Spec provides genuine track-readiness and powertrain scalability in an affordable model. The R-Spec adds core Track model performance equipment to the most affordable 2.0T model, such as: Track-tuned suspension, 19-inch gunmetal-finish alloy wheels with performance Summer tires, Brembo® braking system, Torsen® limited-slip differential and R-Spec badging.

In a special nod to tuners, R-Spec will also receive a set of front strut camber adjustment bolts (dealer installation – optional for customer to install) to further enhance initial turn-in and handling response. To reduce both cost and weight, the R-Spec eliminates some non-essential convenience equipment such as: Bluetooth®, automatic headlights, cruise control, trip computer, chrome interior accents and steering wheel audio controls. Genesis Coupe R-Spec is priced $3,000 less than the 2.0T Track model, leaving tuners with extra cash for their own choice of aftermarket performance upgrades. Appropriately, R-Spec will be available in three exteriors colors most common among international racing teams: Karussell White, Bathurst Black and Tsukuba Red. R-Spec comes with manual transmission only.

R-Spec equipment includes:

* 2.0-liter low-pressure turbocharged intercooled four-cylinder engine with dual continuously variable valve timing delivering 210 hp, 30 mpg EPA highway rating and a top speed of 137 mph
* 6-speed close-ratio manual transmission
* Electronic Stability Control with Traction control, ABS, Electronic Brake-Force Distribution and Brake Assist
* 19-inch gunmetal-finish alloy wheels with staggered-width high-performance summer-compound Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires (225/40YR19 front, 245/40YR19 rear)
* Brembo® braking system with 13.4-inch ventilated front rotors, 42mm four-piston fixed front calipers (red), 13.0-inch ventilated rear rotors, 32mm+28mm four-piston fixed rear calipers (red)
* Track-tuned suspension (higher-rate coil springs, higher-control shock absorbers, 25mm front stabilizer bar, 22mm rear stabilizer bar, front strut brace)

The real benefits come in terms of fuel efficiency. For the manual, the averaged figure over city and country combined driving is 6.7L/100km, with 7.5L/100km for the automatic+. On the open road extra cycle, this can drop to 5.7L/100km (manual) and 6.3L/100km (automatic)+.

Fuel economy has also been maximised with the addition of a new alternator management system, eliminating drag on the engine. The ‘Power Regulation’ is controlled by the engine computer modulating the alternator field coil current under certain operating conditions.

With the 6-speed manual gearbox, the ‘ECO’ coach is a new feature designed to promote fuel-saving driving habits. An icon on the LCD tripmeter screen begins to flash when the optimum gear shift point is reached. Other fuel-saving innovations include the fitment of a rear spoiler for improved aerodynamics.

5 star safety

The Santa Fe comes complete with a full suite of safety features, both active and passive, which have lifted its crash performance to the maximum 5* rating in the ANCAP assessment program. Standard on all models is ESP Stability Control, which includes Hyundai’s Traction Control System (TCS).

Driver and front passenger airbags, dual side front (thorax) airbags and front and rear passenger side curtain airbags (which extend to the third row) are standard across all three grades of the new Santa Fe.

Rollover sensors are a new feature on all models which, should the vehicle be at risk of overturning, trigger the side and curtain airbags, and seatbelt pretensioners.

Other standard safety features include Rear Park Assist, front active head rests and 3 point retractable seat belts for all occupants, including the third row. The Santa Fe also features a driver’s side safety window that retracts if an obstacle is detected.

The new Verna is powered by the new generation Gamma gasoline engine, featuring multiport fuel injection, dual overhead camshafts, and continuously variable valve timing. Verna delivers best-in-class fuel economy, in keeping with Hyundai’s pledge to be the industry’s eco-leader. And it fully satisfies China’s Step 3 fuel economy regulations – two years ahead of schedule.

Featuring all-aluminium construction for weight-saving, the 1.6L DOHC Gamma delivers 90.4Kw@6300rpm and 155Nm of peak torque @ 4200rpm through a smooth-shifting four-speed automatic transmission.

For cost-conscious car buyers, the base Verna is offered with the 1.4L DOHC edition of the Gamma which puts out 78.7Kw@6300rpm and 135.4Nm@5000rpm and comes with the choice of a five-speed manual gearbox or four-speed automatic. Fuel economy is rated 5.7?/100km with the manual; 6.2?/100km with the automatic (1.4L with Fuel Economy Package).

Verna’s wheelbase-longest-in-class-and its low overall height, give it extra stability and a very stylish look but without incurring a penalty in cabin size. In fact, the overall cabin dimensions are bigger than any rivals. And the trunk, measuring a spacious 454L can easily accommodate as many as four golf bags plus three small tote bags. So not only does it look great, but it’s very practical.

With its latest 1.6L Gamma Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission, this front-wheel drive vehicle is the first compact sedan in Korea to have these features and is the smallest member of the Hyundai gasoline engine family to benefit from the application of GDI technology. With the help of GDI, the new Avante delivers a peak output of 140ps and maximum torque of 17.0kg•m. It is also about 10 percent more fuel efficient than its closest competitors.

GDI technology does not only boost power output but also improves fuel economy while lowering emissions. The new Gamma also features Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing, a Variable Induction System and exotic anti-friction coatings such as CrN Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) coating and Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) coating.

The new Elantra is powered by a 1.8-liter Nu four-cylinder engine with 148 horsepower and 131 lb-ft of torque (145 horsepower and 130 lb-ft of torque for Elantra PZEV). The Nu engine was developed to replace the 2.0-liter Beta engine from the previous Elantra. The Nu is smaller in size, weighs 74 pounds less and helps achieve an 18-percent improvement in highway fuel economy, when compared with its predecessor.

The Nu engine features an aluminum block with a cast iron cylinder liner, cylinder head and crank. This configuration results in a block that is 30 percent lighter than an iron block, shedding more than 74 pounds off the entire engine weight, while still providing comparable strength. The 1.8-liter Nu also offers Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT) camshafts and hydraulic engine.

The 2011 Elantra can be equipped with a six-speed manual (M6CF3-1) or automatic (A6GF1) transaxle with SHIFTRONIC manual control. This way, the 2011 Elantra is the first small car in the Hyundai lineup to receive a six-speed automatic. This transmission mated to the 1.8-liter Nu engine helps Elantra deliver improved fuel efficiency by 11% more than competitors.

The production of Elantra has begun at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama in November with shipments to dealers before year-end. Pricing starts at $14,830.

The Blue2 (Read as “Blue square”) concept vehicle, is Hyundai’s latest eco-friendly creation, the company’s first sedan-style Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) powered by hydrogen. The name ‘Blue2′ is a combination of Hyundai’s sub eco-brand ‘Blue Drive’ and the number `2′ from H2, the symbol for hydrogen gas. Blue2 (codenamed HND-6) represents a mid-size FCEV which shows a blueprint for future sedans.

Blue2 is powered by a fuel cell electric system that delivers a stack power of 90kW(1.65kW/L) and fuel economy of 34.9km/?. The Blue2 is materialized in a sporty and luxurious style, a combination of futuristic, flowing designs and eco-friendly features. The Blue2 is equipped with low-resistance tires and alloy wheels which are designed to improve aerodynamic performance, while the car’s interior design encompasses a futuristic look by using eco-friendly new materials.

Highlighting the concept for the exterior design is the ‘Intersected Flow,’ innovative and dynamic designs. The vehicle’s condition is visible via unique and futuristic images on the exterior of the car through outside LED screen panels, which are located on both the front and rear of the car.

Blue2 also features a welcome system which recognizes the driver, while an automatic opening door system enhances the driver’s convenience. Conventional side mirrors are replaced by side cameras and a roof camera, offering a state-of-the-art driving environment.

The exterior designs flow inside the vehicle, with asymmetrically-designed dashboards and doors to optimize a driver’s convenience and add emotional value. Wider seats enable people to get in and out of the vehicle more comfortably.

Genesis Prada is characterized by a special design that combines Prada’s sophisticated innovation, attention to detail and uncompromised quality approach with Hyundai’s advanced technology and expertise in car manufacturing. Hyundai and Prada worked together for over two years to perfect the model, after unveiling a special edition at the 2009 Seoul Motor Show. This is the first time a production model is being introduced to the market.

Based on the 2012 Genesis, Genesis Prada is powered by Hyundai’s Tau V8 engine, which has been chosen as one of Ward’s 10 Best Engines for three consecutive years since 2009. The 2012 Genesis’s Tau 5.0 GDi engine delivers a peak power of 430ps and a maximum torque of 52.0kgm, mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission that allows drivers to enjoy the cars power and driving dynamics to their fullest extent.

Genesis Prada comes in three special colors – Black Nero, Blue Baltico and Brown Moro – that are applied with a three-layer coat technology with stereoscopic gold pearl. Dark chrome is applied to the radiator grille, emblem and door handles to reflect the unique palladium-coated buckles on Prada’s bags. The innovations introduced by Prada include also 19-inch alloy wheels and an outer antenna with a wedge shape.

For the Genesis Prada’s interior, the dashboard and the upholstery have also been revised and artisan-crafted in “saffiano” leather – Prada’s signature top quality leather – to obtain a luxurious and sophisticated finish.

Hyundai i40 sedan will be available with a choice of four Euro V-compliant engines: two petrol and two diesels. These units cover a power spread of 115 ps to 177 ps, with torque delivery extended across a wide engine-speed range, making the i40 an enjoyable car to drive around town or on the motorway. Manual and automatic transmissions will also be offered.

Hyundai’s all new four-cylinder 2-litre GDI engine, called ‘Nu’, makes its debut in the i40. It delivers higher torque for enhanced driving pleasure, improved fuel economy and reduced emissions and excellent NVH characteristics – similar to the multi-point fuel injected engine.

Equipped with GDI (gasoline direct injection) the 1,999 cc unit generates 177 ps and 213 Nm of torque, ensuring that the i40 brings a good balance between performance and fuel economy. An i40 sedan with this engine and a six-speed manual gearbox will accelerate to 100 kph in just 9.7 seconds, record fuel economy figures of 6.8 l/100 km (combined cycle) and achieve a CO2 rating of just 159 g/km.

To go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2011, Hyundai i40 sedan will also offer eco credentials, reduced NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness), high-tech features, and safety for sure.
